Be Proud - Love Manchester

Be Proud - Love Manchester

We [Be Proud Love Manchester] know that communities across Manchester take pride in their areas, and in our city as a whole.

The city council’s Be Proud: Love Manchester programme wants to build on this pride, and encourage everyone to celebrate and improve life in our neighbourhoods.

The spring phase of the campaign, Looking After Our Communities, encourages communities to care for their local area, now and in the future: In line with the council’s Climate Change Action Plan: “A Certain Future”, we want to show how the small changes people can make to their lifestyles in the home or wider community can make a big difference.

Summer’s theme, Discovering Our Communities, focuses on celebrating and enjoying our communities together. This campaign also links into existing initiatives such as European Neighbours Day, World Environment Day and National Volunteer Week.

Autumn’s
focus is on Enjoying Our Community Life, encouraging people to make the most of the wealth of healthy outdoor activities and local events where they live.

Finally winter’s theme, Celebrating Our Communities, celebrates local achievements – thanking the community heroes who brighten up their local area, for example, making local improvements or organising Britain in Bloom entries.

Be Proud: Love Manchester involves a wide range of council departments as well as volunteer groups, and organisations that help co-ordinate activities across the city: the real emphasis is on the community’s needs, so activities may vary across the city, but if you’ve got any ideas or suggestions as to what could be improved in your area, please don’t hesitate to get in touch!
